About Us
Reef (pronounced: ‘ri:f) is a living barrier of corals, an ecosystem exceptionally rich in bio-diversity which encourages the symbiotic development of countless species of animals and plants. The reef, with its beauty equal only to its fragility, is the symbol of a richness the we are losing.
Re-ef, pronounced in the same way, is inspired by the coral reef in its aim of creating a favourable environment for the development of sustainable technologies for an ethical and efficient use of renewable sources, with minimum long term impact on the environment.
Just like the coral, Re-ef works in small steps with incremental logic, preferring the development of open source tools and solutions with the best cost to benefit ratio.
We have chosen this name for our start-up to constantly remind us what we are going to lose if we will not be able, with individual and collective contribution, to defend the most fragile environments of our planet.
WHO WE ARE

Mechanical engineer, since more than 20 years a technical manager in the industry of renewables, with specialistic hands-on experience in the design and construction (or revamping) of over 200 small hydro power plants and wind farms, reaching over 500 MW of new renewable power.
In his comfort zone both in technical as in management roles, he operated as well in R&D, mechanical and automation design and in project management. Spent six years as CEO and Chairman of a company with 40 employees, which he founded and organized, handling a portfolio of structured customers and jobs, in Italy and abroad for an average turn-over of 15 mlnEuro.
As project manager and/or project engineer, he negotiated, executed and fulfilled dozens of contracts, both with multi-utility and private investors in Italy, e with private investors and financial institutes in the Balkans (Albania, Bulgaria).

M.Sc. in mechanical engineering, with a post-graduate formation as expert of computational fluid-dynamics (CFD), has been engaged for more then 10 years in R&D activities, mainly in hydropower sector.
Expert of fluid-dynamics and cold mechanics, specialized in concept design of hydraulic machines, he developed as well research activities and simulation tools for the calculation of hydraulic transient in hydro power plants, and studied the subjects of regulation and efficiency optimization.
In the team of Re-ef, he will be in charge of technology development for innovative concepts of design, installation and supervision of equipment for energy from renewable sources.

Industrial specialist, started his career as workshop engineer and procurement engineer for an industrial construction corporate.
Following employed, for almost ten years, as a construction manager and project manager in a company specialized for small hydro equipment, he spent the last three years mainly as a service manager for defining and handling maintenance activities on existing hydro power plant, both scheduled and for recovery after fault.
With the team of Re-ef, he will be in charge of ordinary and extra-ordinary service activities, with an owner’s engineering approach, for increasing reliability and availability of renewable energy power plant, integrated with specialized digital technology
