Small Hydro

Flowing water is a key resource for the availability of clean energy.
New small plants, with powers in the range of 0,1 to 10 MW, can be designed and installed with respect for the river environment and habitats, preferring design solutions to hide them from view and assure their minimal impact on the landscape. The presence of such infrastructures, well harmonized in the environment, can help making more accessible remote areas with tracks, fords and trekking paths adding value to the landscape, and expanding the coverage of digital communication and surveillance for security and environmental conservation.
The existing schemes need maintenance for a healthy operational state and can be improved, in order to use such a precious commodity as water in the best way, and without any risk.
In developing countries, the “marginal” resources (very small plants) can help the electrification of rural areas and become a driver of development with almost zero impact.
In these scenarios, the small hydroelectric deserves the best skills and technologies, but need to access them with limited resources: a result that can be achieved with a right design approach and wide experience.

Solar and Micro-Wind

The technology of electricity generation by PV (photo-voltaic) panels, in Italy and many other countries, has reached a maturity that make it sustainable against fossil fuels, even for the overall economics (grid parity) for plants of power over 5 MWp.
In peculiar environments, the exploitation of wind speed is the cleanest solution, with the lowest environmental impact for small-scale distributed generation (10 kW to 1 MW): as a guide to the choice of the best package and plant arrangement, Re-ef can provide the best specialistic competences and modular and flexible design solutions.
These renewable sources, not programmable, can reach their maximum efficacy when paired with storage systems, eventually integrated in reversible small hydro schemes, sometimes reaching capability of medium/long term storage (seasonal) without the use of batteries.
